California Baby Calendula Cream Review x Sensitive Skin / Special GuestAppearance

Invited a special guest today to share with us her beauty routine. Apparently, she achieves her luscious and bouncy skin in two simple steps - rinse with warm water and apply a generous amount of California Baby Calendula Cream! Having tried out the likes of Ezerra Plus and Pureen creams, we realized that while they were only able to temporarily soothe Sage's reddish, heat-rash stricken cheeks, after a few hours, we would find Sage all fidgety with her tiny paws reaching for her face again. Thankfully, with the recommendation from a relative, we tried the California Baby Cream and never found ourselves looking back. After three months of applying it on her face every morning, the redness has completely disappeared and her skin feels so much smoother than before.

As a first time dad, hubby was more than enthusiastic to supplement me with additional fun facts of the main ingredient of this cream - the Calendula flower. As seen from above, this humble orange plant belongs to the daisy family and is also known as Pot Marigold. Interestingly, he tells me that this plant has been used for centuries as a culinary and medicinal herb. For instance, during the American Civil War, soldiers recognized the healing properties of Calendula and often applied its flowers to open wounds to promote healing by killing germs, controlling bleeding and preventing inflammation! While our faces do not resemble war zones (hopefully), I can see why these creams can be useful in containing an acne breakout.

Although the California Baby Calendula Cream is predominantly meant for babies, I know of many adults with sensitive skin who uses it as a moisturizer on a regular basis as well! Besides using it to moisturise your skin, it can also be used for aromatherapy as the scent is not only pleasant but soothes the mind and calms the soul. On an important note, it appears that California Baby has changed the formula for the cream a few years back and some customers have experienced mild irritation and inflammation after this change. However, we have not encountered any such problems while using the cream on our baby (and sometimes on ourselves because the smell is seriously addictive!). It also helps that on the label, the ingredients used has added annotations such as whether they are organic, sourced from coconut or olive and/or are antioxidants. So be sure to check if you have such concerns!

Lastly, be sure to compare the prices of the California Baby line on online avenues such as Qoo10 against the regular brick and mortar stores such as Watsons. We got ours online at a discount of nearly 30% as compared to Watsons!

Ps. I dont normally review baby skincare products but I guess this is a way I go about handling my travel anxiety since it will be the first time my daughter will be on a plane tomorrow!
