Top 3 PatBingSu (팥빙수) in Singapore

I fell in love with PatBingSu when I visited Seoul for my Grad Trip in 2013. The one at Sinchon station was really unforgettable. When I came back to sunny Singapore, I was having severe patbingsu withdrawal symptoms, but they were no where to be found. Fortunately, the PatBingSu craze caught on and more korean cafes are offering this refreshing ice dessert in Singapore. It is nothing like Ice Kachang or the Taiwanese Snow Ice... you got to try it for yourself to know it!

1. Bing Go Jung

They have 2 outlets in Singapore. The first outlet opened at Guilemard road and the second outlet recently opened at Bukit Timah Plaza. I've tried both outlets and prefer the one at Bukit Timah Plaza. Not only is the ambience so much brighter and cozier, they sprinkle more toasted almonds on my BingSu!!! Highly recommend the InJeolmi BingSu (S$11) which is essentially korean rice cake with sesame (kinako) powder. Very unique and flavourful. The Milk and Red Bean ('Pat' in korean) one is the classic PatBingSu, comes with a scoop of icecream but nothing extraordinary. Bing Go Jung's ice is the finest out of all the cafes I've tried. Don't forget to order the Korean Sweet Potato Latte to warm up your icy tastebuds too! It's sweet, creamy and very smooth.

Bt Timah Plaza (next to taxi stand), 1 Jalan Anak Bukit, Singapore 588996

102 Guillemard Road #01-01, Singapore 399719 (Mountbatten MRT)
Opening Hours: 12pm – 11pm Daily

2. Paris Baguette

Paris Baguette PatBingSu doesn't come in many flavours and their ice is pretty coarse. A plus point is that Paris Baguette has many outlets - Jem, Bugis, Wisma, Changi Airport. In comparison to the other BingSu cafes around, Paris Baguettes BingSu is considered pretty huge and they are generous with their red bean but it does not come with a scoop of icecream. In my opinion, I would rather visit Paris Baguette for their Royal Milk Pudding instead of their BingSu. It is the silkiest pudding I've ever eaten in my life. Melt-in-the-mouth goodness, seriously.

3. One Thing Coffee

A pretty secluded cafe at the basement of Bukit Timah Shopping Centre. It is run by koreans and it's a great hangout for families with little kiddos as it has a huge playground on its premises. They serve their BingSu in a huge measuring cylinder - how cool is that! I highly recommend the original PatBingSu and the Green Tea BingSu!! Comes with generous scoops of icecream and sprinkled with lotsa cornflakes and granola. Also, the cafe is quiet, relaxing and a great place to chill and watch the world go by (or study).
