I'm not going to lie, hub's has stinky feet. The situation tends to get out of hand when he wears socks and covered shoes for the whole day. When you consider how easily he sweats and how humid/hot Singapore weather is, you will understand why I have to force him to wash his feet the moment he returns from work every single day!
Anyway, as I was happily blitzing through the Daiso store yesterday, I came across the Korean Ginseng Sole Sap Sheet which promises to refresh, purify and detox its users (I assume this would mean getting rid of smelly feet too!)
In any case, even if it does not absorb all that it says, at least it should be able to absorb the "excess body liquid" which I assume is a major part of the reason causing hub's smelly feet. Well, whatever it is, I wasn't under the illusion that this would be a miracle cure, rather, I figured that it would be something fun to do for my hubby. (Besides, it is only $2!)
Anyway, the steps were pretty simple. In the packet is 2 sets of herb packs and adhesive plasters. Simply paste each pack of herbs onto the middle of the adhesive before adhering it at the sole of your feet. Keep it on for up to 6 hours and voila!
According to hubs, the patch made gave him some sort of warm sensation on his feet which lasted for an hour or so. He also felt some slight sourish feeling on his feet too. I reckon this could have just simply been a placebo effect but we continued with the experiment anyway.
I must say that when we pulled out the patches this morning, both of us were grossed out by how slimy and dark the herb packs became. Hub's soles also had some sticky slime residue remaining which he duly washed off after hobbling to the toilet on his heels.
And as disgusting as it may sound, I made hub's smell his feet. (Yes, he is unbelievably flexible.) Understandably, the area with the ginseng patch had a herbal smell however, the other parts of his feet still had the slight stench. Sadly to say, with this, he declared that there was no noticeable difference.
Being the curious cat that I am, I went to read up on detox foot patches and apart from isolated testimonials, it seems that every other one from the Mayo Clinic to ABC thinks that there are no scientific backings behind foot patches. I've also watched some videos that showed how you can get the same slimy results by simply putting the patch over hot steam. So I guess it is safe to say that such things do not seem to work, but I do not discount that the world may work in ways we do not yet understand! (Guess this explains why there are still users who swear by it!)
So if you are looking for some cheap entertainment, go ahead and spend that $2! If you are looking at leading a healthier life, I guess you should work for it and follow the 10 steps to detoxifying here!
