The warm Hotteok Waffle (S$5) is crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. The batter was well done as it made the waffle fragrant and tasty. I love the crunch of the toasted almonds, walnuts and cashew nuts that was littered generously over my waffle. The nuts coupled with the honey was perfect and left my taste buds asking for more.
A little bite-sized background about "호떡 Hotteok" - it is a traditional sweet pancake commonly found in south korea's street food stalls. Brown sugar, chopped walnuts and cinnamon powder are wrapped in dough and thereafter, fried till golden brown. One bite into the pancake and the brown sugar syrup will ooze out! Perfect snack for cold wintry nights. Several of such hashtags went through my mind when I tasted this for the first time in Seoul - #Foodgasm #Foodporn #TooYummyForWords!
To put things in perspective, here is how a Hotteok looks like!
