If you are planning to head over to the land of the rising sun this holiday season, be sure to come back with the following 10 beauty products!
Hada Labo is half the price in Japan compared to Singapore! Unless you exercise self-control, you will most likely be coming back with a year's supply of Hada Labo products after holidaying in Japan. Hada Labo's super hyaluronic acid lotion is only 1000 yen which is ~S$11. It costs double the price here in Singapore.
2. Japanese sunscreens
Japanese sunscreens are high-quality, lightweight, matte, provide high SPF and PA++++ protection. Best of all? No whitish cast. Some highly raved and afforable Japanese sunscreens include Biore UV Perfect, Biore UV Bright Face Milks, and the Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence.
3. Canmake Cream Blushes & Marshmallow Setting Powder
These highly-coveted cream blushes and powders are forever sold out in Singapore's Watsons. The cream blushes helps you pull off the popular but elusive "naturally-radiant glow".
4. Dollywink Liquid Eyeliner
The Dollywink Liquid Eyeliner is smudge-proof & perfect for hooded lids. It claims that it can last almost 12 hours without budging. This means it is your perfect trusty companion as you transition from office to club, day to night.
5. Japanese BB creams (Asian-equivalent of foundation)
Japanese BB creams are more suited for asians not caucasians as they tend to have yellow undertones. I would recommend the following Japanese BB creams:
- KATE Mineral Cover BB Gel Cream
- Sunplay Skin Aqua BB Cream
6. Shiseido Eyelash Curler
Apparently the Shiseido Eyelash Curler is THE curler for asian eyes! You do not have to worry about not capturing those tiny lashes at the hard-to-reach corners with the well-calculated curvature of this curler.
7. Isehan Kiss Me Heroine Mascara
The Isehan Kiss Me Heroine Mascara is waterproof and oil-proof. It dies fast and does not clump at all. Just a few swipes of this magic mascara and you are ready to go out and show off your beautiful peepers!
8. Good quality fake eyelashes
Get a good pair of fake eyelashes and you can wear them more than once. Japanese fake eyelashes are so comfortable that you will probably even forget you have something on your eyes! Plus point is that these falsies are available in so many varieties in Japan and are extremely affordable.
9. Lululun face masks (Shirohada 7-packs)
You can find the Lululun face masks almost anywhere in Japan (even small convenience stores do stock them). Slap this masks on before you sleep and wake up with bouncy moisturised skin when you wake up the very next morning. Take travel photos and show off your perfect skin (without any filters) on your Instagram.
10. Hakuhodo makeup brushes
These famous makeup brushes are incredibly soft as they use high-quality hair. Although these brushes do not come cheap, it is still cheaper to buy it in Japan than buying it online and having it shipped to wherever you are.
***NOTE***
Apparently, SKII is more expensive in Tokyo's Haneda airport as compared to Changi airport though. So do a little more research first before buying. Not sure about the Kose Sekkisei range though.
